Intro to Art

For beginners and intermediate artists. In this class, the student will learn how to see so that they can draw with precision. Beginning with exercises in blind drawing and negative space, the student will sharpen the part of the brain that works with the hand to create. The student will learn about different types of pencils, charcoals, pastels and colored pencils for drawing. We will study the elements of art and the principals of design, which will give the student a solid base for moving forward as an artist. We will then cover various drawing techniques and begin to study color theory. The student will move on into beginner painting techniques as we cover information about brushes, paints, and canvases. We will study and learn from the masters in order to help the student begin to find their own style. We will do multiple exercises and projects including self portraits, still life, and landscapes. All class content will be tailored to the skill level of the student/group.
